Passing the Bechdel test
For Amelia and Saraid, writing Stomach was a way of addressing the misrepresentation and often sexist or gender-biased portrayal of women in popular culture, films, and television. With that in mind, they wanted to ensure that Stomach would pass the Bechdel test.
The Bechdel test is a way of quickly ascertaining if a movie, play, or story is representing women fairly and without gender bias or sexism. In order to pass the test a story must:
